The Summer Before the Ascent — Chapter Two, The Recognition

Written by Dennis Harvell

Chapter Two | The Recognition

It didn’t happen with fanfare.

It didn’t happen with applause.

It happened the way real recognition always does — quietly at first, then all at once.

People began to notice the difference.

The room he touched stayed organized.

The systems he built didn’t break.

The work he handled didn’t return with errors or excuses.

And slowly, the whispers began:

“Give it to him — he’ll get it right.”

“He sees things the rest of us miss.”

“He’s reliable.”

“He’s different.”

This was the first shift in the kingdom — the moment when competence became reputation, and reputation became opportunity. Not because he demanded it, but because excellence has a way of making itself undeniable.

He wasn’t chasing recognition.

He was earning it.

And the world, piece by piece, began to adjust around him.

This chapter marks the beginning of his ascent — the early proof that the young man from that 80s summer wasn’t just destined for greatness. He was already stepping into it.
